Year after year, release after release, Microsoft keeps improving its Windows Server platform’s performance and feature sets, delivering the tools, applications and security that organizations demand. Windows Server 2019 is no exception. Windows Server 2019 has made substantial core improvements to the application platform, security, hyper-converged infrastructures, manageability and hybrid cloud services, and added additional feature sets.
Why choose Windows Server 2019?
As the leader in Microsoft Windows Server software-defined (WSSD) solutions, DataON sees Windows Server 2019 as a springboard for organizations to switch to hyper-converged infrastructure and extend to hybrid cloud. We now offer solutions for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, a validated hybrid cloud ready on-premises HCI solution with Azure services.
For organizations that are still using Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Storage Spaces Direct, a feature within Windows Server 2019, eliminates the need for expensive new SAN infrastructure. By choosing a hyper-converged infrastructure, organizations can simplify their deployments and get a highly scalable, highly resilient, highly available, and high-performance solution that outperforms a SAN at a fraction of the cost.

Windows Admin Center
Previously known as Project Honolulu, Windows Admin Center brings a new level of visibility and control to the Windows Server platform and serves as a central command and management for key applications such as Hyper-V, Storage Spaces Direct, Storage Replica, Failover Cluster Manager, Azure File Sync, Windows Advanced Threat Defender Protection, and third-party applications. This integrative and visual approach gives IT administrators the ability to run PowerShell commands through the GUI and manage core server functions, security, hyper-converged infrastructure and Azure Cloud, making it a power hybrid cloud management tool.
Expand the functionality of
Windows Admin Center with DataON MUST
When organizations choose DataON solutions for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI, for converged, hyper-converged solutions and hybrid cloud deployments, they’ll get MUST, DataON’s exclusive management and utility software tool that can be run within Windows Admin Center as a powerful third-party add-in or as a standalone feature.

Windows Server 2019
is the hybrid cloud platform
As more and more organizations move to the cloud and deploy hyper-converged infrastructures, Windows Server 2019 offers better cloud integration for hybrid deployments.
DataON offers validated Azure Stack HCI solutions which are designed to help customer consolidate virtualized workloads and gain efficiencies on-premises, while enabling them to extend to Azure quickly and easily with simplified access to cloud management and security services, including offsite backup, site recovery, and cloud-based monitoring.
It features the same Hyper-V based software-defined compute, storage, and networking as Azure Stack and shares similar testing and validation criteria
More capacity. More resilient.
Hyper-converged infrastructure with Storage Spaces Direct
Hyper-converged infrastructure is not just the next big thing, it’s the future. In Windows Server 2016, Microsoft debuted Storage Spaces Direct, its own hyper-converged offering that made quite a splash. So much that Gartner named Microsoft as a visionary for hyper-converged infrastructure as a visionary in its February 2018 Magic Quadrant for HCI. Storage Spaces Direct is a highly available, highly scalable software-defined storage solution that uses commodity-based hardware to deliver SAN-like resiliency at fraction of the cost of traditional SAN or NAS arrays. Its converged or hyper-converged architecture radically simplifies procurement and deployments with features such as caching, storage tiers, and erasure coding, coupled together with the latest hardware innovations such as RDMA networking and NVMe drives, to deliver unrivaled, efficiency, and performance.

Storage Spaces Direct
Build highly available and scalable SDS at a fraction of the cost of a SAN or NAS. Use standard servers with local storage to create converged or hyper-converged storage architectures.
Image
Storage Replica (SR)
Create affordable business continuity and disaster recovery among data center with synchronous storage replication.
Image
Storage Quality of Service (QoS)
Ensure that users of business-critical applications have priority access to storage resources.
Data Deduplication for ReFS.
Now available in Storage Spaces Direct
Data deduplication is an effective tool that reduces the impact of redundant data on storage costs. When enabled, Data Deduplication optimizes free space on a volume by examining the data on the volume by looking for duplicated portions on the volume. Now, Windows Server 2019 supports Data Deduplication in ReFS-native Storage Spaces Direct deployments. Data Deduplication management is conveniently located in Windows Admin Center.

Storage Replica Is better than ever
Introduced in Window Server 2016, Storage Replica enables replication of volumes between servers or clusters for disaster recovery. It also enables organizations to create stretch failover clusters that span two sites, with all nodes staying in sync. Many companies have never considered the option because the cost was too high. Now organizations can do something that previously cost hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars, for the cost of a few Windows Server Datacenter licenses.
New in Storage Replica
  • Storage Replica is now available in Windows Server 2019 Standard Edition.
  • Enhanced Storage Replica Log v1.1 provides better replication, throughput, and latency.
  • Storage Replica Test Failover enables IT administrators to mount a writable snapshot of replicated destination storage for easier destination backup and simplified testing of data and failover strategies.
Image
Reliable
With synchronous replication and block-level replication, there is no possibility of data loss or file.
Image
Flexible
Guests can replicate their data volumes, even if running on non-Windows virtualization platforms or in the public cloud.
Image
Proven
Storage Replica uses SMB’s advanced characteristics such as multi-channel and SMB direct support on RoCE, iWARP, and Infiniband RDMA network cards.
Image
Easy to use
It’s simple to create replication partners between two servers, or even to deploy stretch clusters.

New Windows Server Storage Migration Service
Server storage migration is difficult under any circumstance. Although, previous iterations of Windows Server offer tools to help migration, IT administrators can’t migrate servers and its data without reconfiguring applications or users. Now, Windows Server 2019 makes life a lot easier. Managed from within Windows Admin Center, Storage Migration Services (SMS) enables IT administrators to migrate unstructured data from anywhere into Azure cloud and/or Windows Servers (2003 or later). It’s fast, reliable and scalable.
Software-defined networking.
Secure and cloud-ready
For many organizations, security is a prime concern when moving to a public, private or hybrid cloud. Windows Server 2019 SDN delivers many features to increase customer confidence in running workloads either on-premises or as a service provider in the cloud. These security enhancements are integrated into the comprehensive SDN platform that Microsoft customers have already been using since Windows Server 2016, including encrypted subnets, virtual network peering, firewall logging, enhanced fabric ACLs and IPv6 support.

  • Virtual Networking Encryption
Offers an additional layer of protection between VMs and prevents threats from spreading from one VM to another.
  • Host Key Attestation
Provides enhanced real-time failback configurations and host and policy-based security improvements.
Better protection in the cloud with enhanced shielded VMs
Today, virtualization security is essential in all Hyper-V deployments. Not long ago, if a VM became compromised, all VMs on the virtualization fabric were compromised. Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V introduced shielded VMs. Shielded VMs and guarded fabric enabled cloud service providers or private cloud administrators to provide a more secure environment for tenant VMs. Window Server 2019, has made shielded VMs even more secure with two new features, including host key attestation and virtual network encryption, offering IT administrators peace of mind
